Why Do I Need a Skin Test?

If you are an existing client of Buzby and Blue and you have had colour here before within the last 6 months, you need to complete a form via email. This will be sent to you 7 days prior to your next colour appointment. If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions, you will need to come in for a skin test.
All new clients need to come in for a colour consultation and skin test/patch test.

Allergy testing for the application of colour is now a Legal Requirement. We can appreciate this is inconvenient for you but health rivals that and it is vital for us to keep you safe and happy. Hair colourants can cause severe allergic reactions and can develop at any time and for no apparent reason. It is therefore vitally important that you must carry out a skin test before your colour service.

It is a very simple process, which can be carried out from the comfort of your own home, or in the salon. Manufacturers instructions state ‘hair colourants are not intended to be used on a person under the age of 16′ and for this reason, Buzby and Blue are unable to perform colour services on persons under the age of 16. A patch test should be carried out 48 hours prior to the application of colour for all new colour clients and also for clients that have had a test longer than 6 months. Please note that a Lash and Brow Tint for beauty will require you to have a test before your appointment.

Visit Us

Come into the salon and ask our reception team for a skin test, this will be free of charge. You will then have to sign a consent form stating that you have had a colour test.

Collect & Take Home

Collect the allergy test from the salon for £4.95. This will include a tube of tint/cotton wool tip and instructions for you so that you are able to perform the allergy test at home. This will have a shelf life of 12 months once opened, so you will be able to do this prior to each colour service in the future. You will then have to sign a consent form stating that you have performed the colour test.

Delivered to Your Door

We will post directly to you a tube of tint/cotton wool tip and instructions for you so that you are able to perform the allergy test at home. This will have a shelf life of 12 months once opened, so you will be able to do this prior to each colour service in the future. To post, there will be a charge of £10.00. You will need to sign a consent form stating that you have performed a colour test .
