Maybe the only thing that excites us more than a fun makeup or nail trends are spring hair trends. By the end of winter, we are ready to try something different with our hair that doesn’t involve untangling it from our many layers of winter clothing, and this year, we are especially excited because the spring hair trends look so good. Excited? So are we. Keep scrolling for some hair looks you’ll want to wear all spring long.

1. High shine, wet look hair

Models are dripping with high shine and ‘wet’ inspired looks on the runways. The aim of this look is for the models to look like they were literally stepping out of water. Although we may not see this extreme of a ‘wet’ style on an everyday basis, shiny, glistening hair will definitely be all over and we can see this look being very popular for a night out or drinks with the girls.

2. Headscarves

On days when you just can’t be bothered, hats are probably your best friend, right? Although we’re not going to knock your go-to baseball cap or bucket hat, we totally understand their bad-hair-day appeal, but we would like to suggest an additional hair accessory for your beauty emergency: headscarves. Headscarves are effortlessly chic, making them a win for lazy girls who want to conceal greasy hair whilst still looking classy and put together. These headscarf looks are often used on the runway, Dolce & Gabbana being one fashion house that never fails to provide headscarf inspiration.

3. Sleek straight middle part

The 2000 looks are here and that includes the much-debated middle part. In our opinion, middle parts have never gone out of style, but now that so many models on the runway have sported the look, we think it’s safe to say they’re really back for now. Complete the hairstyle with some sleek straight hair like the models at Chanel. This look really evokes the throwback feel of the early 2000s, where the hair was ‘clean’ and ‘modern’ and we are more than here for it.

4. Sleek bun

If it’s been a while since your last haircut, and messy buns are all you can think of, may we suggest a sleeker, model-approved alternative similar to this look rocked by beauty Hailey Beiber. The off-duty model look brings a modern side to a classic style with its middle part and slick texture. You’ll see this look on everyone from the Hadids, to the Kar-Jenner clan, this model-approved sleek bun will help you look put together and ready to slay that bad hair day within minutes. To be honest with this style the dirtier the better.

5. Baby braids

Good news. The baby braids in the front of your hair that you’ve been wearing (and loving) aren’t going anywhere this year. Baby braids are the latest trend to take the internet by storm, and they follow a similar formula. The look is exactly as it sounds: two tiny strands braided on either side of your face to create tendrils. But your old middle-school piece-y look this is not. Depending on how you style them, these small face-framing braids can have a boho 70s feel or more of a 90s look, drawing from both the grunge and street-style influences that were popular at the time.

6. A wavy ponytail

Ponytails are just for the gym right? Wrong! Perfecting the messy ponytail is an art; one we’re going to explain to you how to master! A great day-to-night look, the wavy ponytail is perfect for heading for festive drinks straight from the office. Textured locks don’t just happen; you need to prep, prep, prep! Spritzing your hair with GHD Root Lift Spray will give you the perfect base to finger-comb your hair back into an imperfect ponytail. Leaving a few sections loose at the front will frame the face and add to the messy look, whilst using the GHD Curve soft curl tong to wave the lengths will add volume and shape to the lengths. This look is the perfect ‘I woke up like this’ style.

7. Half-up hairstyle

Remember this hairstyle from back in school? We definitely remember rocking a half up half down most days in school so you can understand our excitement seeing this hair trend back. These hairstyles have been seen modelled at a Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week. It officially marked the return of half-up, a style that was originally thought to have since fallen from favour. Now, however, you can see the likes of Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner rocking this look off-duty, as a subtle nod to the early 2000s/Nineties reference. This look has become fluid and soft, not severe, and ultimately, much more grown-up when styled the right way with the right products.

8. Long braids

This year, the longer the braid/low ponytail braid, the better. These braids feel very soft, romantic, and youthful and the best bit is that no matter the length of your hair these braids always look sleek and put together. We would recommend securing the ends of your braids with some discreet elastics, which add a more grown-up finish to the style. Without wishing the current season away, the trend feels best saved for spring. That, or a January sun holiday on the horizon.

9. Sparkly strands

If there’s anything you take away from this blog, let it be glitter. The models at Blumarine were dripping in iridescent sparkles on their bodies and in their hair, and come spring/summer, you will be too. If there’s one great beauty signifier of the Noughties, it’s an unapologetic wash of fluorescent glitter. The model’s hair flashed and flickered under the runway lights, giving each model an ethereal, almost hologram-like glow as they strutted down the runway. No doubt we were all watching, and raiding our pots of glitter.

10. 90s layers

Long 90s layers are making a strong comeback this year and we are obsessed with this Rachel from friends inspired do. ‘The Rachel’ needs no introduction: Jennifer Aniston’s Friends haircut, created by Chris McMillan, spawned a million copycats and made ‘choppy layers’ a standard salon request. All about honey highlights and face-framing layers, the style eventually fell out of favour, but we think it could be time to dig out that hot brush and bring back the feathering once again. A layered haircut is also just great for adding volume, movement, and shape, and framing the face, so if your current style could use a little bit of all of that, incorporate layers that suit your hair type and texture into your look.

11. Natural effortless hair

Whether it’s French-inspired, effortless hairstyling or natural colour, we are loving the idea of less is more. We think we will be making a lot more space in the new year for lots more colour that feels natural but with an elevated gloss or natural highlight.
